An explosion that occured today at a petrol station in Accra, Ghana, has left at least 90 people dead and about a dozen people injured.

According to Al Jazeera, most of the victims had sought shelter at the station due to heavy rain.

Sources say the blast was caused by flooding.

The flooding swept stored fuel into a nearby fire, setting off a huge explosion at a gas station.

The flooding “caused the diesel and petrol to flow away from the
gas station and a fire from a nearby house led to the explosion,” – said Billy Anaglate, spokesman for Ghana's national fire service.

Initial reports said 73 bodies had been found, but the figure later increased to 90, according to Citifmonline.
