Taraba State APC Female Governorship Candidate Rejects Election Results

The woman who would have become Nigeria's first female governor has rejected the results. InfoRanking gathered that the APC candidate in the just-concluded re-run governorship election in Taraba State, Sen. Aisha Alhassan, has rejected the results of the poll as announced by INEC on Sunday (Today). Addressing a press conference in Jalingo, shortly after the announcement of the results, Sen. Aisha Alhassan described the entire elections process as a “daylight robbery” and said the party would challenge the results in the elections petitions tribunal. “The combined governorship elections in Taraba State were characterised by violence, massive rigging, ballot snatching and abuse of the card readers in substantial parts of the state by the PDP and their allies,” Sen. Aisha Alhassan said all the complaints on the irregularities and abuse of the election guidelines were promptly reported to INEC, but that no action was taken. She also stated that she will not call the announced winner (Arch. Darius Ishaku) of PDP to congratulate him, because she totally rejected the election results repeatedly, and that she is the supposed winner of the election. She also said she disagree with the election results of some local government and polls where the guber election was re-ran. Arch. Darius Ishaku of the PDP scored the total of 369,318 votes to emerge victorious. Aisha Alhassan came second with 275,984 votes.
