A 70-year-old church and community elder identified as Pa Ita Daniel Okpo, in Mbiokporo village, Nsit Ibom LGA, Akwa Ibom has slaughtered his 60-year-old wife identified as Alice, with a machete, following a quarrel over her sleeping around with other men.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Mike Okoli, Okpo slaughtered his wife to death while she was sleeping.
On why he murdered his wife, Okpo said he was pushed into it because his wife was sleeping with other men.
“I regret my action, but I was forced to kill her because it was too much on me. In fact, at a point, she openly told me she would rather kill me than to stop sleeping with these men.
To match words with action, she had been fighting me several times. So, on that fateful day, while we fought, I killed her.
